Rotor balancing on a Schenck balancing machine
An unbalanced rotor generates vibration that wears bearings and seals, increases the risk of contact between blades and casing, and shortens the life of the equipment. At the GDA Group workshop in Lurín we perform dynamic rotor balancing on our Schenck balancing machine.
Balancing is part of every turbocharger repair we do, and we also offer it as a standalone service for your equipment’s rotating assembly.
- ABB/Accelleron, KBB, Napier and MAN turbocharger rotors
- Rotating assemblies of multi-brand industrial turbochargers
- Other rotors: contact us with the dimensions and weight of the part
What does the balancing service include?
Rotor inspection
We clean the rotating assembly and check shafts, blades and bearing seats to rule out damage before balancing.
Initial unbalance measurement
We mount the rotor on the Schenck balancing machine and measure the magnitude and location of the unbalance.
Correction
We correct the unbalance by removing or adding material at the correction planes until it is within the manufacturer’s tolerance.
Final verification and report
We repeat the measurement to confirm the result and deliver a report with the values before and after balancing.
Why balance with GDA Group?
A Schenck balancing machine and technicians with manufacturer experience.
When should a rotor be balanced?
We recommend balancing the rotor at every turbocharger overhaul or repair, whenever blades, shafts or other rotating assembly components are replaced, and when the equipment shows abnormal vibration or premature bearing wear.
If you also need work on the engine, see our industrial engine overhaul.
How we work
- Contact: tell us the equipment and brand, or the dimensions and weight of the rotor.
- Reception: we arrange for the rotor or turbocharger to be brought to our Lurín workshop.
- Balancing: inspection, measurement, correction and final verification.
- Delivery: you receive the rotor with the balancing report.
Frequently asked questions about dynamic balancing
It is the correction of a rotor’s mass distribution while it spins, so that its center of mass coincides with its axis of rotation and it does not generate vibration.

Turbocharger rotors are our specialty. For other rotors, send us the dimensions and weight of the part and we will confirm whether we can handle it.
At every turbocharger overhaul or repair, when rotating assembly components are replaced and when abnormal vibration appears.
Yes. We deliver a report with the unbalance values measured before and after correction.
